County reporting
- Louisville narrows access to plate reader searches. Louisville Public Media, Sept. 16, 2026. Louisville Public Media reported on the department's decision to restrict who could directly search its Flock system. The policy question is separate from how many camera locations appear on a map. Source checked 2026-10-23.
- Shively announced additional search oversight in August 2026. WAVE, Aug. 31, 2026. WAVE reported that supervisors would review searches weekly. An announced safeguard does not independently establish that the reviews occurred. Source checked 2026-10-23.
What this count includes
The plate reader count includes only Flock-tagged and other ALPR source points, excluding other surveillance layers. Locations are assigned to the county outlines used by this map. A point tagged as Flock means the source identifies Flock Safety; other plate readers may have another manufacturer or no identified manufacturer. Multiple mapped devices can be close together.
Missing points are expected. An empty road or a lower county count does not establish that less surveillance occurs there. Map positions are source coordinates, not surveyed locations. Policy changes, removals and source edits may happen after this snapshot.
