Review activity sharing and history

Open User Settings and review Activity Sharing or Activity Privacy as labeled in the app. Discord's current help covers the global sharing choice, audiences, Registered Games and connection controls. For history, open the full profile > Activity > the activity's three-dot menu > Clear Game History. Clearing history and future sharing are separate tasks. Check server-specific Privacy Settings too, while keeping the documented limits in mind: friends or another permitted shared server can still provide an audience. Discord's help also separates profile privacy from activity sharing, even when it offers to update both together. Discord: activity sharing and control exceptions

Review existing connections before removing one

Discord's Connections help documents settings to manage linked accounts and display account details on a profile. Review the authorization and displayed details of an existing connection. If considering removal, check whether a Linked Role depends on it, since access to its channel can be lost. There is no need to connect a new outside account just to review these choices. Review each data-use choice

Use the current feature-specific help and the label visible in the app. Discord's October 2026 guides use Data & Privacy for the following settings. They describe different uses of data. Discord: recommendations and personalization

  1. For recommendations, review User Settings > Data & Privacy on desktop, or Settings > Data & Privacy on mobile, and Use data to personalize my Discord experience. Discord says this controls account-specific recommendations; it does not remove access to conversations and voice channels. Discord: recommendations and personalization
  2. For improvement, review Use Data to Improve Discord in Data & Privacy. The help describes the setting as account based across devices, says prior data can still be used, and notes that usage signals continue to be sent. It also says the choice prevents automatic voice/video quality improvement based on usage. Discord: product-improvement setting and retained data
  3. For sponsored content, open Data & Privacy > How Discord uses your data and review both Discord-activity and third-party-source personalization controls. Discord says disabling the Discord-activity option also disables the third-party use; disabling only third-party use leaves Discord-activity personalization unchanged. Nonpersonalized Quests can remain. Discord: sponsored-content personalization controls

Review an export before an intended account closure

Discord's September 2026 package help documents Data & Privacy > Request your data, with category selection on desktop and in its newer mobile instructions. It says delivery can take up to 30 days, the emailed download link lasts 30 days, and disabling or deleting the account before receiving that link cancels the request. Keep that sequence in mind if choosing to request an export. Discord: export contents and request timing

The package help says a manually deleted message will not be included, and the server list depends on current and recently departed memberships. An export should not be assumed to reconstruct every deleted message or every server ever joined. Discord: export contents and request timing

Review individual content before deleting an account

The retention help permits deleting an owned message while access to its space remains, and deleting servers or channels only with the needed permissions. Discord says account deletion normally starts with a 15-to-30-day recovery hold before identifying information is deleted and other data anonymized or aggregated. Legal, safety, public-post and backup exceptions remain. Read the current rules before making a permanent choice. Discord: content deletion and account-retention limits
