Review the map audience and any Live Location sharing
Snapchat's current general privacy help uses profile gear > Settings > App & Privacy > My Privacy & Data for location and other audience choices. Feature-specific help may show different section labels. Check the control's description in the actual app. Snapchat: current general privacy settings
- Open Snap Map > gear > Map Settings. Review all-friends, friends-except, or selected-friends sharing. If Spotify is already linked, the page can mention both location and music. Do not start a new connection merely to review existing privacy choices. Snapchat: choosing map recipients
- Review Ghost Mode and its timer where available. A temporary choice can expire; select the intended duration rather than assuming it stays on indefinitely. If music sharing is already enabled, review its separate Share Now Playing pause timer, which can resume sharing after expiry. Snapchat: Ghost Mode and music-sharing timers
- Check any separately enabled Live Location sharing as well. Snap's product notice says Ghost Mode preserves that audience. Review public map submissions separately from friend-location controls. Snap: map audiences and public submissions
Review the phone permission and My AI cache separately
Snapchat's My AI help documents the iOS device path Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Snapchat, and the Android app-info permission controls. Review the location permission there. Its platform-specific Clear My AI Data instructions address cached information that can remain after permission changes. Read the confirmation and scope before clearing it. Snapchat: My AI location and cached data
Disabling the device permission does not establish that all location inference or retained content is gone. Snap's Location notice separately describes approximate IP-based inference and location associated with saved or submitted content. Review the relevant category rather than treating one permission as a deletion request. Snap: location collection and approximate inference
Review new Footsteps and saved Footsteps independently
The Footsteps help documents Settings > Map and a switch for saving new Footsteps as location updates. It separately provides Clear Footsteps History. Read those choices independently: stopping new history and removing previously saved history are different decisions. Snapchat: Footsteps and clearing history
Review visited places and travel updates
For an individual visited place, Snap documents holding the place and choosing Remove Place Visit. Its all-history route is Settings > Clear Data > Clear Location History, which it describes as clearing travel updates and visited places. Keep this distinct from the separate Footsteps controls. Snapchat: visited places and location-history controls
The Travel Notifications help documents Settings > Map > Travel Notifications, with a toggle for the feature. Review it alongside the location audience and the possible arrival notification or recent-city-move callout. Menu sections can vary across the documented feature pages. Snapchat: travel updates and controls
Review Snaps submitted publicly to the Map
For an owned public Snap, the help documents My Account > Settings > Spotlight & Snap Map, then the trash control for the selected Snap. Read the deletion choice carefully. Snap says this also deletes copies shared in Search, Context Cards and Spotlight; copies shared outside Snapchat can remain. Snapchat: deleting an owned public map Snap
