Choose an iPhone preview setting

In Apple's iOS 26 guide, open Settings > Notifications > the app > Show Previews. Choose When Unlocked or Never if Always exposes more detail than intended. Review individual apps because their settings can differ. Turning off Allow Notifications is a separate choice that stops that app's alerts. Consider which alerts are needed before disabling them. Review the Pixel lock screen

Google documents Settings > Notifications > Privacy > Notifications on lock screen > Show sensitive content. Turn that option off to hide sensitive content. Its Wallpaper & style > Lock screen > Notifications on lock screen route also controls whether notifications appear at all. Menu names can differ on other manufacturers' phones. Decide whether Pixel notification history is needed

Google places Use notification history under Settings > Notifications > Notification history. Review whether keeping that list is appropriate for the phone. The documented switch turns the feature on or off; the help page does not establish that this choice deletes copies in the sending app or service. Google: Pixel notification history

Review the paired Watch separately

Apple documents the iPhone Watch app > My Watch > Notifications. Turn on Tap to Show Full Notification to require a tap for details. Turn off Show Summary When Locked to hide locked-watch short looks. Review the app's Custom or Mirror my iPhone options where available; a summary setting and an app's delivery setting do different jobs. Apple: Watch notification routing and privacy

Review existing Mac notification access

On a Mac already connected through iPhone Mirroring, Apple documents System Settings > Notifications > Allow notifications from iPhone, including app choices. On iPhone, Settings > Notifications > the app > Show on Mac stops that app's alerts on Mac. Review Live Activities separately; the Mac control requires macOS Tahoe 26 or later. Do not set up a new connection just to look for these controls. Apple: iPhone notifications and Live Activities on Mac

Use the Pixel app control for unwanted alerts

Google documents Settings > Notifications > App notifications > the selected app. Review its switch when the aim is to stop that app's notifications. Keep the choice distinct from silencing sounds, delaying alerts or hiding lock-screen content. Confirm the intended result with a harmless alert rather than displaying a private message in public. Sources and scope

Public instructions checked 10-24-2026; iPhone edition is iOS 26. Review an existing authorized connection only. Hiding a preview, changing alert delivery and reviewing the original app or account are different tasks. These instructions do not establish deletion of stored message content.
