Playing can create account-linked activity records
PlayStation's U.S. privacy policy describes device and network identifiers, trophies and rankings, game actions, usage times and software-error details. Some error-report information depends on the automatic-report setting. These records cover different purposes and do not all share a single visibility control. The privacy overview says activity linked to a player can include trophies, game progress and opponents. It also describes possible information from linked third-party services. Review the specific connection before assuming it shares only a display name. PlayStation: linked activity and collection choices
A profile audience is an account setting
The privacy-settings guide describes controls for real-name and picture visibility, friends, gaming history, current activity and communication. It says account privacy changes are reflected across devices. The audience for a profile or game history is a different question from which service records exist. Library hiding and activity hiding have different effects
The game-hiding guide says hiding a game from the PS5 library does not affect the profile. It documents a separate list for hiding activity from other players. On PS4, hidden-game information is removed from activities, profile and trophies, but other PS4 players can still see the title in Now Playing. Appear Offline has limits inside games
The online-status guide says a player might still appear online within a game. Busy or Appear Offline also does not stop other players inviting that person to voice chat or games. Status changes carry across the documented PS5/PS4 sign-ins, but older PS3, Vita or PlayStation TV sign-ins appear online. PlayStation: online status and in-game exceptions
Collection choices have their own scope
PlayStation's privacy overview describes PS5 Limited Data as information needed to deliver services, and Full Data as additional collection for purposes such as improving the experience. Limited Data therefore still involves service data. It is separate from choosing which players see a profile. PlayStation: linked activity and collection choices
A data copy and retained service records need separate review
The U.S. data-request help offers an account route for a copy of key personal information. It describes an Excel download and a limited download window. The word key does not establish that this file contains every technical record associated with every game or service. PlayStation: requesting a personal-data copy
The privacy policy describes retention for service purposes, legal obligations, disputes and agreements, with possible backup or archival copies after active-database deletion. It also says game studios can have their own controller roles. Visibility changes and a personal-data copy should be read alongside those scopes.
