Choose the AirDrop audience on each existing device
Apple documents Settings > General > AirDrop on iPhone or iPad. On Mac, open Finder > AirDrop and review Allow me to be discovered by, or use Control Center's AirDrop options. Choose contacts or no receiving when broader discovery is unnecessary. Review the Mac separately from the phone. Apple: reviewing AirDrop on phone and Mac
Use timed visibility only for the intended transfer
Apple's phone support page uses Control Center > the connectivity controls > AirDrop > Everyone for 10 Minutes for a non-contact transfer. Confirm the intended person and content before accepting. Review the setting afterward rather than treating the timer as a way to recall a file already sent. Apple: AirDrop audiences and timed visibility
Review a previously approved AirDrop sender
For the 26.2-or-later code workflow, Apple documents Contacts > Other Known > the sender > Forget This Person to end code-free sharing before 30 days. Check that the selected person is the intended one. Saved photos or files are a separate matter; the guide does not describe this action as deleting those copies. Check NameDrop fields or disable the proximity feature
In the selected iOS 26 guide, NameDrop lets a person choose Receive Only or inspect the fields before sharing. Review the remembered selection. To stop NameDrop and other Bring Devices Together features, Apple documents Settings > General > AirDrop > Bring Devices Together. Moving devices apart or locking the phone cancels a transfer before completion. Apple: iOS 26 NameDrop choices and controls
Review the information intended for NameDrop
Apple places contact-card review in Contacts > My Card > Edit. Check the name and contact details intended for sharing. Its NameDrop guidance describes only the selected number or email, name and Contact Poster. Review another sharing method separately if it is being used to send a contact file. Review Android visibility and exit Receive mode
Google documents searching Settings for Quick Share, then Who can share with you. Contacts requires an on, unlocked screen; Your devices includes same-account devices even with the screen off. Everyone for 10 minutes returns to the prior choice. Exit Receive mode when finished. Same-account transfers can be accepted automatically; do not assume every transfer presents a new prompt. Review Windows visibility and background operation
In Google's Quick Share for Windows app, open Settings > Device visibility and choose the intended audience, including No one when receiving is unwanted. To fully quit, right-click its system-tray icon and choose Quit. Review a transfer request and compare a displayed PIN with the intended sender's device before accepting.
