Conceptual illustration

Check the actual Indeed profile setting

Indeed documents Profile > the settings in the contact-information section. Read whether it shows Employers can find you or Employers can't find you, then choose the intended visibility. Review only your existing authorized profile. This setting does not prevent employers you applied to from seeing application details. Indeed: profile visibility and applications

Treat previous recipients and public copies separately

Indeed warns that searchable profiles may be copied elsewhere, and changing visibility does not recall those copies. Review what was previously shared before interpreting a hidden profile as removal. The FAQ does not promise immediate deletion of all personal data when visibility changes. Indeed: searchable profiles, copies and retention

Review an application before withdrawing it

Indeed documents My Jobs > Applied > the three-dot menu > View and manage details, including the resume used. Direct Indeed applications can offer Withdraw application. Read the warning: you may not be able to apply again, and the employer may still contact you. Do not use withdrawal just to inspect the menu. Indeed: application details and withdrawal limits

Choose account closure or a data request deliberately

Indeed's Settings > Privacy settings explains its request routes. Its help links the Personal Data Request form for a copy, deletion or both, with account-holder verification. Review a needed copy before deletion. The help says the resulting application history covers employer-posted Indeed jobs, not every application made on other company sites. Indeed: account closure and personal-data requests

Direct employer-copy questions to the hiring company

MyGreenhouse's FAQ directs application access, correction, withdrawal and deletion questions to the company applied to. Editing a profile affects future applications; profile deletion leaves employer copies separate. Use the employer's published privacy route for a question about its records, rather than assuming a profile change updates an earlier application. Greenhouse: candidate profile and employer application copies

Ask which retention rule and information are covered

Greenhouse documents organization-selected periods and data fields. Its guide says a name can remain in Activity Notes unless that category is also selected. When reviewing an employer's explanation, distinguish timing, active applications and the information covered. Candidates do not need administrator access or a new application to ask about their existing records. Greenhouse: employer-configured retention and anonymization

Read an anonymization confirmation for its scope

Greenhouse describes anonymization as irreversible and dependent on the applied rule. If an employer provides a response, keep the scope and any stated exceptions with the confirmation. This guide does not establish that an administrator operation recalls files previously exported or sent outside that system. Greenhouse: scope of candidate anonymization
