Review the account information and permission

Instacart's privacy help lists contact details, addresses, payment methods, loyalty cards, marketing and retailer sharing among account settings that can be corrected. Review the saved information that actually applies to the account before placing another order. Instacart: access, deletion and privacy-choice routes

For precise phone location, the policy directs users to the device or browser permission setting. Its separate approximate-location and order-address descriptions still apply. Review the needed delivery information rather than expecting a permission change to remove existing order records. Instacart: order, device, location and retention policy

Review retailer and advertising choices separately

The retailer-sharing help says an existing sharing choice can be stopped in Account Settings. It separately directs eligible residents to Your Privacy Choices for third-party information-sharing rights. Check that scope and the retailer's policy instead of assuming the retailer toggle deletes information already supplied. Instacart: retailer-sharing preferences

Instacart's privacy help links access and deletion requests, plus Your Privacy Choices for applicable opt-out rights. The available rights depend on residence and verification. It also provides a route for someone without account access. Review the current instructions before submitting personal information or a request. Review who participates in household shopping

The Family Accounts help says the owner can remove members and members can remove themselves. In the app, review Account > Family; on the website, review Manage family account. Select the member and the documented removal option only if that change is intended. Instacart: family membership and removal consequences

  1. Check whether the cart is personal or family before adding items. The cart help documents View cart > three-dot menu > Switch to a personal cart or Switch to a family cart. Keep the desired cart selected; changing a cart is not a provider-data deletion request. Instacart: personal and family carts
  2. For an active order, the person who placed it can review collaboration settings and turn family collaboration off. The help says family participants cannot change the delivery address, cancel or reschedule delivery, or adjust the tip. Those limits do not prevent the documented item changes and shopper chat when collaboration is on. Instacart: post-order family collaboration
  3. Review saved-list visibility before sharing a list. Instacart distinguishes searchable public lists from nonsearchable private lists and says both can be shared. Its help still marks some shopping-list features as forthcoming on Android and web, so check the actual platform rather than assuming every listed feature is present. Keep marketing and order messages distinct

For the app, the help documents Account > Settings > Notifications; on the website, Your account settings > Notification settings. Review Marketing updates separately from Order updates. The guide also documents opting out of marketing texts through their stated instructions, including STOP. Avoid turning off needed replacement and delivery alerts unintentionally. Read the effects before account or family deletion

Removing a family account does not delete the individual Instacart account or cancel its Instacart+ membership. Instacart says active family carts are lost and other members lose shared membership benefits. Confirm which account is being changed before using a family-account deletion control. Instacart: family membership and removal consequences

For permanent individual deletion, the help says first wait for active orders to finish and cancel an existing Instacart+ membership. It documents Account > Settings > Personal information > Delete account in the app, or the linked website request. The OneTrust confirmation email must be confirmed within seven days or a new request is needed. That is a confirmation window, not a promise all data is erased within seven days. Instacart: permanent deletion and account deactivation

Instacart's privacy help warns that business-account deletion can remove business information such as receipts, and only an Admin can delete a dedicated, non-linked business account. Review access needs and the applicable request before an irreversible choice. Instacart: access, deletion and privacy-choice routes
