Review the existing app and data categories

For someone who already uses Plaid Portal, the help documents Overview > the app or service > Data shared. Select a data category to see the described details and last-access date and time. Read the actual category before deciding whether the connection still serves its intended purpose. Plaid: data categories and last-access information

The Portal overview separates viewing connections and types of shared data from disconnecting an app or deleting financial data. Choose the relevant control for the goal rather than assuming any account-management action has the same effect. Plaid: what Portal shows and controls

Account for connections the dashboard may miss

Plaid's matched-connections help says matches based on phone or email may be incomplete. It also distinguishes verification from disconnection, which stops future data through the matched connection without deleting financial-account information. Review the connection before acting on a name that looks familiar. Plaid: matched connections and completeness

The coverage help provides Not seeing everything? in the connections list and describes unsupported connection types. Where the financial institution supports it, its own online-banking portal may show connected apps. Review existing app and institution permissions rather than creating a new bank connection just to fill a dashboard. Plaid: connections not displayed in Portal

Read the effects before disconnecting an app

Plaid's documented route is Overview > the app > Manage connections > Disconnect app, then reviewing the effect and the financial institution before confirmation. Its help warns that features relying on financial data can be lost. The same page says previously collected app data needs a separate deletion request to the app. Plaid: stopping future app data sharing

Keep stored-data deletion and payment authorization separate

The financial-data deletion guide uses Accounts > the financial institution > Delete from Plaid, with a review of connected apps before confirmation. Read the displayed scope and consequences first. Plaid expressly says this does not remove third-party app data or payment authorization. Consult the relevant app or institution's separate instructions for those goals. Plaid: financial-data deletion and payment-authorization limits

For a request that cannot be managed in Portal, Plaid's privacy help links its Privacy Request Form, available regardless of residence, and notes retention exceptions. Read the current verification requirements and the scope of the request before providing identity information. Plaid: privacy requests and retention exceptions

Distinguish Portal closure from financial-data controls

Plaid documents a separate Portal-account closure under the menu > Settings > Delete Plaid Portal account. That page is specifically about the consumer dashboard account. Read the financial-data deletion and app-disconnection help for their separate controls and effects before choosing closure. Plaid: Portal account closure
