Gallery captures and AI camera prompts are different paths

Meta says gallery photos and videos remain on the glasses until import or auto-import. Its privacy page separately describes an AI visual query: the camera helps answer the prompt, but the image is not saved to the gallery. Gallery storage alone does not describe every camera use. A capture light has a stated scope

Meta documents a brief Capture LED blink for a gallery photo and continued blinking for gallery video. These descriptions concern gallery capture; do not use them as a complete inventory of all data processing. Meta: gallery capture signals, AI camera use and responsible wearing

Import moves media into the phone photo library

Meta says import temporarily uses an app cache, then removes media from the glasses and saves it to the phone's photos app. The app Gallery accesses those photos with permission. Deleting media through the Meta AI app also deletes it from that phone photo library. Meta: import cache, phone photo storage and gallery permissions

Device data includes more than saved photos

Meta automatically uses essential device information, including connectivity, battery, usage timing and errors. Optional additional data supports product improvement and personalization. That additional-data choice applies across devices paired with the app and excludes captured photos and videos. Meta: essential and additional device data, privacy controls

Phone location can support several glasses features

Meta documents location permission for Wi-Fi connection on certain phone versions and features including import, geotagging, navigation and finding devices. Its help says navigation data used for improvement and debugging is not associated with the Meta account; that statement is specific to the described data. Deleting voice recordings does not instantly undo model learning

Meta says deleted voice recordings are removed and excluded from future training, but deleting information does not immediately change a model that already learned patterns from it. Meta: AI glasses sharing and voice-recording deletion FAQ

Sources and scope

Public Meta privacy pages and English regional help checked 10-24-2026. Gallery media, visual AI prompts, diagnostic data and phone location are distinct scopes. Capture-light and storage behavior are provider descriptions, without an independent hardware, network or bystander-visibility test. Relative help-page update labels do not establish an exact publication date. No account, device, recording or private gallery was accessed.
