Identify the account and organization policy first
OpenAI's Work FAQ ties enterprise commitments to the workspace, plan, configuration and feature. For a managed workspace, review the organization's retention and connected-service rules before relying on a consumer-product setting. No-training-by-default is a different commitment from strict zero retention. OpenAI: ChatGPT Work enterprise data commitments and connected services
Review Claude consumer model improvement separately
Anthropic documents Settings > Privacy > Help Improve our AI models on desktop, browser and mobile. Review the existing choice before changing it. Turning it off stops use of prior and new chats for future training runs, while training already started or completed remains unaffected. The documentation preserves separate safety-review uses. Read incognito limits before using a temporary conversation
Claude documents the ghost icon when starting a chat outside a project and an Incognito chat label. Incognito does not use existing memory, but can still access profile preferences. Organization exports and retention can still apply. Do not start a new conversation or paste sensitive material merely to inspect this help. Anthropic: incognito history, retention and organization exports
Treat deletion and training withdrawal as different operations
Anthropic's consumer retention guide describes immediate history removal, backend deletion within 30 days and exceptions. Its model-improvement retention and completed-training limitations remain separate. Read the confirmation and any needed access consequences before deleting an existing conversation. This guide does not promise deletion from an already trained model. Anthropic: consumer deletion, training retention and exceptions
Review Gemini Activity and public links separately
For personal Gemini on a computer, Google documents Settings & help > Activity. Read the current Keep Activity and auto-delete choices. Turn off differs from Turn off and delete activity. Review a shared conversation's public link separately, because activity deletion does not remove that link. Work or school settings may require the administrator. Google: personal Gemini activity controls and separate public links
Check the Gemini temporary-chat indicator and supported surface
Google documents Temporary chat beside New chat on the Gemini website. Confirm the temporary indicator before entering anything, and read the feature limits. The help says connected apps requiring Keep Activity, personalization and Gems are unavailable there. This is a personal-account feature, not a universal option on every Gemini surface. Google: temporary-chat availability and feature limits
Review connected data as a separate permission and record
Google documents managing eligible connected apps in Personal Intelligence. It warns against connecting confidential material that should not be used for improvement. Disconnecting an app and deleting existing Gemini activity are separate tasks. Do not enable extra connections, upload private documents or turn on personalization merely to inspect the controls. Google: Personal Intelligence connected-app data and deletion scope
Consider the contents before submitting feedback
Anthropic's consumer guidance says a feedback report can include the entire related conversation and included content. Review that scope before using a thumbs-up or thumbs-down report on a sensitive conversation. A feedback action should not be assumed to send only the selected answer. Anthropic: consumer training choices, safety review and feedback
Minimize prompts, files and screen content
Google's notice covers uploads, shared screens and connected data. Review content before sending. Google: Gemini Apps privacy and retention
