Energy use becomes a series of readings

LG&E and KU describe advanced meters as transmitting readings more frequently than monthly-read non-AMI meters, for bills, grid operations and service. Other utilities can differ. LG&E and KU: advanced-meter access, opt-out and service distinctions

Their My Meter FAQ says readings are recorded in 15-minute intervals and sent to utility systems every few hours. It lists 13 months for hourly, 30-minute and 15-minute dashboard data, and five years for daily, weekly and monthly data on a rolling calendar-year basis. Dashboard availability does not establish a universal deletion deadline for every utility-held record. LG&E and KU: interval readings and dashboard history

Meter readings sit within a larger customer account

The April 2026 privacy notice covers AMI as well as websites, apps and communications. It describes energy information alongside account, service-address, billing and other personal information. It also describes service providers, requested third-party access, marketing and legal disclosures. The notice does not establish that every meter reading is sold to advertisers. LG&E and KU: customer privacy and request choices

The expanded meter FAQ describes customer access, designated secondary users and authorized utility personnel with a service need. Read that explanation together with the broader privacy notice and any permission to a separate energy-data service. LG&E and KU: advanced-meter access, opt-out and service distinctions

A download differs from a connected third-party service

The Green Button page distinguishes downloading usage in an XML file from authorizing a third party to access data directly through Connect My Data. The provider says both options are available in My Meter. Sharing a downloaded file and granting connected access are different decisions. LG&E and KU: downloadable and connected energy data

The My Meter overview says the dashboard is available through My Account to customers with an advanced meter. It separately provides an opt-in route for people who previously declined an advanced meter. A dashboard sign-in and a meter-change request should not be confused. LG&E and KU: advanced-meter dashboard availability

Readings and remote service switches are different features

LG&E and KU's electric-service page describes remote turn-on and turn-off through advanced electric meters. That capability concerns utility service at the premises; it is different from a graph showing when energy was used. The page identifies the feature specifically for advanced electric meters. LG&E and KU: electric dashboard and remote service features

The expanded FAQ says gas disconnection and reconnection require a technician visit rather than remote operation. LG&E and KU: advanced-meter access, opt-out and service distinctions
