What a robot vacuum can record about a home
Maps, obstacle photos, optional video and shared app access have different privacy controls. Check the exact model, app and cloud-data rules.

A floor map and a photograph are different records
iRobot's published policy lists possible device-environment information such as floorplans, named zones, objects, detected people or pets, and Wi-Fi-related maps. It separately discusses optional image collection from certain camera-navigation robots made before 2025. That wording should not become a claim that every current model takes or uploads the same photographs. The page displays a November 6, 2024 policy date. iRobot: device data and retention
The company's English-language Imprint Smart Maps privacy article on its Canadian support site says Smart Maps are stored in the cloud and survive app removal. It distinguishes the phone app from the stored map. Its mapping controls also affect cleaning features, so deleting an app is neither a map-access review nor a complete data-deletion procedure. iRobot: Imprint Smart Maps privacy
Optional cameras and voice features vary by product
Roborock's Trust Center, dated August 2026, describes obstacle images, voice processing, video calls and pet photos separately. It explicitly says practices depend on the model and the page may not reflect the latest update. Its local-processing and encryption descriptions are company claims, not a test of a particular household device. Read the matching manual and feature notice. Roborock: model-dependent privacy features
For example, the Saros 10 product page says automatic pet recognition, pet snapshots and pet search need video functionality manually enabled in the app. That is a disclosure about this model's features. It does not establish that every Roborock product has a camera, or that enabling one feature authorizes every other use. Roborock: Saros 10 optional video functions
Account sharing can create another route to device information
Roborock's app policy, effective June 22, 2026, describes synchronizing shared-device usage information between the owner and recipient. It also lists limits on recipient functions. The policy distinguishes the app from separate device and store notices. Check those scopes when deciding who can control a robot or see associated information. Roborock: current app policy and shared devices
Roborock's July 2, 2025 website policy expressly describes website use. Its browser and cookie choices should not be assumed to control robot maps, an app account or a camera. A privacy page linked from a store footer can have a narrower scope than the product being investigated. Roborock: website policy scope
Resetting hardware and requesting deletion are separate tasks
iRobot's United Kingdom reset guide distinguishes app-based removal from manual button resets. It says manual resets leave cloud data, app data and account associations intact. It gives different paths for the Classic and new apps, plus model-dependent map-preservation options. A generic instruction to reset the robot is too broad to establish what disappears. iRobot: app reset and manual reset differences
iRobot's policy separately describes retention based on service needs, legal obligations and other listed criteria, with deletion requests through the account or app. That policy does not offer one universal retention deadline for every map, image and usage record. iRobot: device data and retention
Questions and answers

Does a manual iRobot reset necessarily remove cloud associations?
The reset guide says those associations and cloud/app data remain after a manual reset. iRobot: app reset and manual reset differences
Does the Roborock store website policy cover every robot function?
That policy describes website processing; device and app scopes require separate checks. Roborock: website policy scope
