Versailles Police Department
License plate reader records for Versailles. Each fact keeps its source and checked date.
Written rules describe policy, not proof that every search follows it. Agency-reported camera totals have a different scope from community-mapped county points.
Program status reported by the source
In the city's July-August 2026 newsletter, Police Chief Rob Young describes the Flock program as implemented in 2022. This is a year-only department account, not an exact installation date, current equipment total or independent operating-inventory audit. The earlier May-June 2023 newsletter described the readers as recently acquired.

What the public record establishes
The May-June 2023 newsletter says the readers are not used for traffic enforcement. This remains a historical published statement, not an independent audit of searches, camera capabilities, current settings or outcomes. Later chief-authored newsletter and council-minutes accounts are separately attributed below. Neither a no-misuse-complaints statement nor an auditability description proves that misuse never occurred.

Reported camera count
19 LPRs. Department-reported Flock license plate reader cameras installed at separate roadway locations throughout Woodford County in the FY 2026 report. This is a historical report total, not the count of all mapped county cameras or a present operational-inventory audit. The July 15, 2026 chief letter date does not establish an exact inventory day.

Data retention
The chief's July-August 2026 newsletter account describes a maximum of 30 days unless information becomes part of a criminal investigation, and says images unrelated to an official investigation are deleted. The investigation exception matters: this is not a blanket 30-day deletion rule. The adopted policy text, exception retention schedule, exported-copy handling, actual settings and deletion logs have not been verified.

Access and oversight
The chief's July-August 2026 newsletter account restricts access to authorized personnel and describes each search as logged and auditable. The July 21 minutes separately record his statement that every search needs justification. These are published department accounts; the underlying policy, individual account permissions, query logs and completed audit results have not been reviewed.

Sharing rules
The July 21, 2026 minutes record Chief Young saying data is shared only with other departments within Kentucky, rather than third parties or federal agencies. They also record Mayor Dake describing a contract restriction on Flock releasing the information to third parties. These are recorded speaker accounts, not the signed agreement, an adopted sharing-policy text or an audit of actual recipient permissions and transfers. Specific connected partners remain unknown.

Procurement record
The estimated capital-expenditure table lists $50,000 for Flock license plate readers in the FY 2025-2026 budget column, covering July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. The prior amended-budget column also shows $50,000. These are budget allocations, not verified payments, an executed contract price, equipment quantity or signed service term.

Separate technology program records
The FY 2026 report describes three trained and licensed drone pilots and three drones: one larger aircraft with forward-looking infrared imaging and two smaller aircraft for faster deployment and indoor response. It describes support for hazardous scenes, suspect apprehension, missing or endangered-person searches and natural-disaster assessments. These are department-reported capabilities and uses for the report period, not verified flight logs, a present fleet audit or a drone-as-first-responder launch. No manufacturer is inferred from the photograph. Drone recording, retention, access and sharing terms remain unknown; the plate-reader rules and budget are not assigned to this separate program.
