Glasgow Police Department

License plate reader records for Glasgow. Each fact keeps its source and checked date.

Written rules describe policy, not proof that every search follows it. Agency-reported camera totals have a different scope from community-mapped county points.

Program status reported by the source

The city's police page links Policy 24.04 for automated license plate readers. The policy header lists implementation in June 2022 and revision on July 8, 2026. The implementation month does not establish an exact launch day, present equipment count or current operating status.

What the public record establishes

The city-linked written policy governs collection, storage and use of plate-reader data. It does not by itself verify current system settings, completed audits, the outcome of any investigation or actual deletion of stored records.

Written camera policy

Section M prohibits personal use, harassment, stalking, intimidation, use solely based on protected characteristics and infringement of First Amendment rights. Its restriction on recording plates outside public view retains an exception for a court order such as a search warrant.

Data retention

Section N states a maximum of 90 days. Data preserved for law-enforcement purposes must be stored under policy and destroyed only under the records-retention schedule. The clause also restricts sale, sharing, access and transfer by reference to KRS 189.632(4)(d). This describes the policy, not an independent legal interpretation or deletion audit.

Access and oversight

The policy requires trained, authorized users with individual logins and a documented inquiry reason. Every 90 days, an audit must randomly select at least 10 detection-browsing inquiries. The internal memorandum must record errors found and be reviewed and retained with associated documentation. These are requirements, not verified audit results.

Sharing rules

Section O permits release to authorized and verified law-enforcement officials and agencies for legitimate law-enforcement purposes. It directs non-law-enforcement requests through the cited statutory provision and written requests to the records custodian. This is a written release rule, not proof of a particular recipient connection or actual transfer.
