Review the Android restricted-profile setting

Google documents profile picture > Settings > Location & privacy and the restricted-profile switch. Its help still describes Maps reviews, photos and ratings as public. Google: public contributions and restricted profiles

Review individual place reviews on a computer

Google documents Menu > Your contributions > Reviews, then the review's More menu for editing or deletion. Review the particular item before choosing removal. Editing also changes the displayed post date to the last-edit date. Google: public reviews and individual review controls

Review uploaded Maps photos separately from other copies

Google documents Your contributions > Photos on a computer. Only media from the account can be deleted through that control. Deleting a Maps upload does not remove the phone-gallery or Google Photos copy. Google: Maps photo posts and ownership controls

Inspect list visibility and collaboration choices on Android

Google documents lists under You. Inspect the list's type and Sharing options. Sharing a viewing link and inviting collaborators are separate actions. The editing control can be turned off separately; hiding a list on the main map concerns its display there. Google: private and shared lists, collaborator visibility

Inspect custom-display availability before relying on it

Google's Search profile help says the custom name and picture option is currently available only to first-time Maps or Search contributors. Check whether the option is actually offered rather than assuming it is universal. Google: profile privacy and custom-display eligibility

Read the public-post identity and broader account identity separately

Where available, Google's Android Maps help documents Contribute > View your profile > Edit profile for the custom display choice. Review its shared Maps/Search effect before confirming. Location sharing and shared lists still use the Google Account name and picture. Google: public display identity and blocking limits

Review public search visibility as a separate goal

Google says a private Search profile does not necessarily remove posts, names or pictures from search results. Review the individual content and the matching removal explanation instead of assuming a profile switch erases every appearance. Google: profile privacy and custom-display eligibility

Sources and scope

Public provider instructions checked 10-24-2026. Android routes cover Maps profile and list controls; computer routes cover individual reviews and uploaded media. The help does not pin these menus to one installed Maps build or Android release. Settings paths were checked against provider documentation, without physical-device testing.
